In a Horizon special, naturalist Sir David Attenborough investigates whether the world is heading for a population crisis. In his lengthy career, Sir David has watched the human population more than double from 2.5 billion in 1950 to nearly seven billion. He reflects on the profound effects of this rapid growth, both on humans and the environment. While much of the projected growth in human population is likely to come from the developing world, it is the lifestyle enjoyed by many in the West that has the most impact on the planet. Some experts claim that in the UK consumers use as much as two and a half times their fair share of Earth’s resources. Sir David examines whether it is the duty of individuals to commit not only to smaller families, but to change the way they live for the sake of humanity and planet Earth.

Let the cull begin!
I have to disagree with this video, for it states that population will surpass production. it wouldn’t be a problem if governments would stop corporations from taking the resources from the people to put profits into the pockets of a few, while ignoring the needs of the many.
Agreed, our socio-economic system, while once a good system, allows for dammaging differential advanatage and our cultural values aren’t updated. A resource based economy could solve most of our problems on the planet, and the high education that would be afforded by all would ensure that the population are educated to reproduce in alignment with the natural laws of the earth and the carrying capacity. We need to implement or transition to a resource based economy as fast as possible for multiple reasons.
I agree to you, as I see here the most talked about reducing the population on the planet, which is not solution. I have not seen any example of how to make this world a better place.
G, I agree with you, but he is speaking in the context of the current societal system which we all agree needs to be changed. Based of current practises population would definitely surpass production unless something is done about it, Unless we change the system. This clip is the 1 of 6 parts I recommend you also watch the others. A shift from our current system to a Resourced Based Economic System is our only hope of survival.
I have watched them. I didn’t say it wasn’t possible. The only way it can be changed, is if we as a species, will take the “power” from the greedy few, so-called ‘elite’, and put it into the hands of the masses. The U.S. government pays farmers not to grow crops, so that there is scarcity, to bump up the price for the demand. Who ‘profits’? Bankers and corporations. I agree that a monetary or gold based economy doesn’t work, and we have to put a resource-based system into effect. That’s not going to happen over-night or in the near future. Not until the corrupt few that control this pestilent system are brought to justice for their crimes to humanity.
I agree. A scientific, logical solution-oriented search will lead one to a resource based economy, as it it the most viable solution to date. Population reduction is the lack of solution..totally unacceptable. We must move to a Resource based economy as fast as humanly possible. Educating the masses is crucial!
well said. Keep putting the info that you find, out there for family and friends to see, with notes added to stress the importance of this info.
Planet Earth Can Support a Healthy Population of 30 Billion Humans:

I have not watched the documentary, but as I understand it, they talk only about the population grows and what it entails.
Maybe they should also find out what this increase in population is due?
I have no answer to that question, but I feel that religion is a part of it.
Evidently, this video was made fairly recently. Are these people going around with blinders on? We have free energy technologies (kept from humanity because of money), reverse osmosis water purification (for one), there’s plenty of food, as long as you have the money to buy it, so there really is no need for hunger at all. That is a result of money manipulation. Money, money, money, bankers, bankers, bankers — but that’s not the real base of the problem. The real base is how we humans choose to use resources and knowledge. You can look to recent history for the answers (as these people seem to be doing) and repeat the same mistakes or you can take off the blinders and look at the future. Take off the blinders! You know, those things that prevent you from seeing the world as it really is? There’s plenty of room on this earth for all its creatures to live and thrive in harmony, with love, not to mention space exploration. Many advances have been made on this account which the general public has not been made aware of. I am reminded of the Hopi Indian picture carved into a sacred rock — 2 men, one advancing upward (raised consciousness vibration) to happiness, fruitfulness, and one continuing on, business as usual (not raised vibration), off a cliff, so to speak. Unfortunately, some people just are not able to grasp the concept of what that means and will not survive. They will continue on with this closed minded way of thought and kill themselves and everything around them because of it. The old ways are gone. We have been telling you that since the 1960s. Its no wonder the Nazis have taken over that society, these people are not only allowing, but insisting on the brainwashing. We are all of the same spark — humans, animals, plants — and there is no end to our lives, living in HARMONY; but those who insist on staying in an outmoded, brainwashed state of mind, as those presenting this film, will not survive and that has nothing to do with perceived overpopulation it has to do with their own perception of what reality is.
