It is a well-known fact that our society is structured like a pyramid. The very few people at the top create conditions for the majority below. Who are these people? Can we blame them for the problems our society faces today? Guided by the saying “A fish rots from the head.” we set out to follow that fishy odor. What we found out is that people at the top are more likely to be psychopaths than the rest of us. Who, or what, is a psychopath? Unlike Hollywood’s stereotypical image, they are not always blood-thirsty monsters from slasher movies. Actually, that nice lady who chatted you up on the subway this morning could be one. So could your elementary school teacher, your grinning boss, or even your loving boyfriend. The medical definition is simple: A psychopath is a person who lacks empathy and conscience, the quality which guides us when we choose between good and evil, moral or not. Most of us are conditioned to do good things. Psychopaths are not. Their impact on society is staggering, yet altogether psychopaths barely make up one percent of the population…

very well put together and thought provoking.
Only saw 8 minutes of it. Got too tired of the constant “hidden” fishhead symbol. Seriously, this movies uses psychological hidden messages to insert their point of view, which are normally illegal in even commercials (at least in my country). Can’t help but feel they aren’t objective at all and generalizing far too much. Most people here on truththeory already know that the people at the top are bad people, and causing other people a lot of sadness. But this movie just tries to increase our hate and at the same time associating “the elite” as psychopaths, while not leaving much for our judgment. It’s a bit like the way “the elite” uses propaganda. I can see why some people feel like fighting fire with fire is a great solution, but if a new world was build upon such fundaments, perhaps it would only make space for a new elite to rise.
Dear (only saw 8 minutes of it) … how can you make such an assumption after only 8 minutes .. in order to make a honest assesment you need to watch the complete video … your comment is null and void if you do not. Y ou are like a kid with a desert … you tasted the topping and didn’t like it but you never tasted the filling, which to most is the best part …. perhaps you should try watching the complete movie and ignor the fisheads and then make a more concentrated assesment… its the filling that counts
Agreed. The initial premise is nonsense.
Well go and see the last 8 mins, not the first.
All the best!
@8 minute commenter:
I agree with you that the fish head symbol is probably over used and the sort of subliminal cuts between shots of interviews are certainly jarring… but it is because they are jarring that they couldn’t be a hidden control. Consider TROM where in a something around 12 part series I noticed “only” five times where there were one or two frame inserts of subtly translucent messages displayed on screen that (some I screen capped) without an accompanying “static” sound to alert the viewer and I think you have a good comparison for a message that was trying overtly to be subliminal. (TROM’s barely intelligible synthesized voice, repeated use of the same obtrusive music and chapter end recap made it really difficult to get through for me.) This just seemed like an artistic element possibly taken too far and to be fair to the film makers, there did seem to be a long lull of the use of that effect during the middle of the film towards the end. I’d encourage you to take another shot and try to look past it.
@Everybody else:
As for the content I hope this becomes a more widely viewed documentary, like the Zeitgeist films or Collapse. (Even though Collapse, because of its noir style, lacked incorporated and complimentary sources of information, it is still an important film in my opinion as the corroborating info is easily found in multiple places in both video and written form.) Most of those interviewed in “I Am Fishhead” were published researchers in their fields. The others are people who I had at least a passing knowledge of that had relevant and meaningful experience to support and enlighten the more clinical or scientific views given to the viewer. The train of thought and presentation is clear and the message is in the end mostly positive. That is good since it shows that there is hope and the hope is justified by evidence.
Thankfully the film wasn’t just cut up, remixed, and republished segments and sections from other documentaries which is something that seemed until recently to be a trend. (Anybody can take other’s works and play “I’m a documentary film maker!” with iMovie…) More “real” film makers are needed in the world to get information to people who’s primary means of absorbing and digesting knowledge is through visual infotainment. This IS NOT a criticism of the viewers or respectable producers. We are all products of our environment and we have been trained to learn from moving and talking pictures instead of cold and inanimate words. To reach people you must make more of the same! (And then hopefully you can entice them to read books by respected scientists and see that the evidence is there and not just some conspiracy…) It is a shame though that so many remixed versions of good films that obviously take a lot of time and effort to produce can be spliced up and uploaded to youtube by anybody and made to say something contrary to the artists original vision and to the data shown.
“I Am Fishhead” is not my favorite documentary but I will certainly add it to the growing library of videos, books, and articles I use as sources to point those who are interested to and hope they come out of the other side changed.
Sociopaths make up 4% of the population. Read The Sociopath Next Door. That’s 5% that have no emotional basis for right or wrong, they do not even FEEL. People with a conscience are regarded as fools.
some good information in there ! i did not feel like this movie wants to blame an evil elite, but it kind of shows how each one of us is taking his role in the play. i can make a change now, i d like to say this shows many form of consciousness can inhabit a body. not all of them feel like humans. some of them are not human, but we permit them to be here with us. i ll try to learn from this relation, forgive me and try to love them too i order to wake up their compassion.
may you all walk with peace in your heart
