Jimmy Doherty, pig farmer, one-time scientist and poster-boy for sustainable food production is on a mission to find out if GM crops really can feed the world.
We need to double the amount of food we produce in the next fifty years to feed the world’s growing population. Are GM crops the answer? Or are they a dangerous Frankenstein technology that could start an environmental catastrophe?
To find the answers Jimmy is on a journey that will take him from the vast soya plantations of Argentina to the traditional Amish farms of Pennsylvania; and from the cutting-edge technology of the GM laboratories to the banana plantations of Uganda.

I’m werry sorry, but the way I see it, this film is comercal for GM food, somehow sponsored by cooperations wich will have profit of it. No facts are shown in this film. We have couple of good documentaries made abaut GM food, wich shows both sides good/bad and truth facts abaut it. I’m very concerned abaut how this film is made, becouse when someone is tring to makeup his mind abaut some thing, this is not the way to present it.
I agree. This film is blatant industry propaganda. No practical solutions are explored, only the “technological” venue is properly explored. Nothing about how toxic industrial agriculture is, nor how it actually propagates the risks of contamination and food depletion.
What about permaculture on a larger scale?
And so what if wild carrots are smaller and not as sweet-tasting? as he never heard of eating less and using light, vegetable or fruit-based sauces?
If we are to fix Africa’s hunger problem, and in extenso, the world’s, we better turn to a vegan way of life (or at least, 90% vegan) and eat only organic, small scale products. Fix the local issue. THe global issue will follow.
This whole issue of GMO’s only struck me a weak ago when I watched a documentary called Food Inc. About the monopoly that one company (Monsanto) have over the food and seed industry. There are such lies being told to the public, one can never know who is telling what truth/false. But since watching that I have bumped into, by random accident, several articles about different aspects linking directly to what this company and the few other major companies like this are doing. Its shocking so far(if what I’m reading is true). Something like 93% of pregnant women tested in Britain found traces of the GM toxins in their blood streams, umbilical chords and in fact the fetus itself. The other issue of the bees dying out (partly) due to the pesticides and whatever else it is that they use to produce these GM crops. What it seems to me is that these major companies are performing a mass international slaughter of all human existence, and they are fronting different propaganda and fake test results to ‘prove’ that their produce is safe. it ain’t fair; the government are involved(who knows who’s involved. Illuminati? World bank? Whoever it is – they have broad world domination and control over us); it is the most brutal violation of human rights. It even goes beyond human rights. I think that it is an atrocity and that these fat cats need to be suicide bombed or something. I’ll even volunteer hahaha. But for real there isn’t enough awareness about all this. Peace!
I agree I think this is very one sided, monsanto funding it!!! go figure.
I was waiting to hear a balanced argument to be brought forth from the protestors point of view but no – simple one liner ‘concerns’ posed as questions and answered heavily with arguments for GMO’s. Glad this was posted, good to be reminded about type casting spokespeople who come dressed as a regular member of the public, closing their documentary in a nice peacful farm setting. Wonder what they were paid to poster boy advertising campaign?
Have heard that any Scientist who speaks out against GMO’s end up having very short careers.
I have also heard about a test that was done feeding stock on GMO feed only, and a control group that was not. The stock on GMO ended up with a high mortality rate/illnesses.
This video is obvious bs and could be easily have been sponsored by companies that make GM foods and what not
There is already enough food production to feed the world, but the food doesn’t get allocated properly. If there is already enough food then, why do we need GM crops? this video is pointless and propaganda
This guy must have worked for Monsanto. I guess he forgot to mention how G.M. crops will sterilize the second or third generation & how hampsters grew hair in their mouths from it. You would think he would have contacted Jeffery Smith or Dr. Mercola about it too. Yes, this thing was pointless. Waste of time. Was that amish guy Rumsfield in disguise? I’m pretty sure it was! I think I saw some aspartame on his pants.
