Winner – Best Feature Documentary – San Francisco Frozen Film Festival. In times of crisis people seek strong leaders and simple solutions. But what happens when their solutions are identical to the mistakes that caused the very crisis? ‘Overdose’ is the story of the greatest economic crisis of our age, the one that awaits us. The documentary traces the origins of the financial crisis and explores the eerie similarities with today’s situation, where states like Greece, Iceland and even the U.S. seems to be in danger of collapsing.
Among those interviewed are experts who were mocked when they predicted the current crisis. Other interviewees include Nobel laureate Vernon Smith and former US Comptroller General David Walker (I.O.U.S.A). The film is shot in the U.S., Sweden and Germany and makes extensive use of music, archive footage and graphics.

Hi, great introduction to the world economy by “Overdose – The Next Financial Crisis”. Explaining in a highly understandable and familiarizing way. This shows the global economic tendencies, trying to explain the next event. Still I wonder, they say we have to do something fast, meaning what?

If they were going to waste trillions of dollars on stimulus packages (Cash for Clunkers, for example – wtf?) – why not spend it on avoiding climate catastophe?
It wont help to spend the money on climate catastrophe cause climate change is a hoax created by the same people.
The only basis for that is false reports from scientists coerced by government officials. However, individual studies have been conducted and proven that our environment has undergone significant change.
Yep. Studies have proved that the climate always has and always will be in a constant state of flux. “Fighting Climate Change” is much the sme as saying “Fighting Gravity”. It’s just a new religion. Ignore it.
Great documentary. Just backs up further the hypothesis that it’s engineered failure. I wish they’d mentioned Ireland in this doc; truly shocking what’s gone on here. Our national dept is 250% of our GDP. I believe our country is in the deepest shet of all the ‘western’ nations.

I have the same question as the previous commentator. The “we need to do something fast”,…was not addressed in the film. WHAT do we need to do? was not addressed.

Zeitgeist is just another cult making covering itself in ‘grassroots’ clothes. Who is going to run this Venus Project? And do you really think that person or those people are immune to corruption and power hunger? I don’t have that much faith considering.
Our solution is to hit them where it hurts. BOYCOTT! Money and consumerism only exist because the people allow it to exist. We are fighting the machine but we must stop and realize that WE ARE THE MACHINE. We make this current system what it is, if we stopped spending money would have no value and we would be making a statement that things are working the way they currently are. The elite understand one language, money. Stop spending continue earning and eventually it all falls apart. It has to be massive on a wide scale but it needs to me done and it is possible.

This does explain the financial crisis to some extent, but like it was mentioned before, they don’t seem to provide a solution and-or how we can begin to apply these solutions.
No one wants to admit it, but our monetary-based economic system is a bust. Greed and corruption cannot be eradicated, unless you remove THAT which makes us greedy and corrupt: MONEY. You can try to fix it all you want, but somewhere down the road, we’ll end up where we started; unless we start thinking outside the box and beyond yourselves.
The producers of this film did a great job; but I think it would have served a better purpose to explain what is to come, and how we can avoid that which is to come.
it will be cool to translate to other languages.
Nice information, but what about action? what do we need to do? How can we solve this problem?

The only action you can take to retain the value of the paper money: Convert the fiat currency into hard money, aka precious metals.
No one wants to talk about the solution because there is no bridge across that is palatable to the masses. Meaning our population as it is was created by the boom of cheap oil and run away capitalism. Once that is gone we are like rats that invaded a corn field that ate everything in sight and humped out brains out and now have multiple generations of offspring and zero food. What do you think would happen in that scenario? MILLIONS, Perhaps BILLIONS will die from starvation, murder, gang warfare, government extermination called crowd control as the masses attack gov protectionist staff in their quest for resources. If one does not have the courage and foresight to train up themselves and those they love on living off the grid, underground and off the land their DNA will not be amongst the few who get through this time coming at us. Thats the RAW Truth. I already know which path I’m taking. I didnt come this far to be snuffed out in the midst of this insanity.
Maybe you would be so kind as to provide a link(s) to any information which would help anyone interested in preparing themselves for such an event as you described? As time is of the utmost urgency, providing a direct path to the most crucial essence of data, without going through the due process of research and self discovery you yourself I’m sure have endured, would help to arm the late comers that have less time to prepare. As information to such vital tools for survival are abundant on the web , very few are condensed and complete as say the ‘Manual for a New Existence’ by Lanthorn, for example, and seem only to be discovered if by accident and/or many hours of endless research on the subject. Thanks ahead of time and good luck on future endeavor’s.

This documentary certainly makes very valid points about our unstable economy, but what we all generally fail to understand is that we as people are hardwired to stick with our belief systems, come what may- right to the point when it fails, and this applies to our money system as well.
Every form of government was, for example seen as the only one that can work and be sustained (even though hated often, eg. communism) till the point it collapsed, the act of its collapse itself causes an impetus to work on a new form.
Sadly, this way of our thinking is mostly a direct consequence of our evolutionary history, and how we define our ego with our ideas and actions.
Things sadly will not change till the day the system collapses- we prefer short term gains ( and long term losses) rather than vice versa.
Also, people often comment on the greed of the present system, mostly people fail to understand that the greed component is a fundamental property of every organism in this world and acts as a survival strategy- and that is the reason it has been passed by evolution.
Of course I am not advocating that greed and corruption is bad, but what we often fail to see is that we would do the same in the circumstances, aren’t we all running behind money after watching this too?
What really needs to change is either the way we work with each other such that group and personal benefits go hand in hand(and not in competition) or the way we think, such that we finally subconsciously realize that it is beneficial for a society to work for benefits to all (which causes better opportunities for all the players, simple game theory) but that requires the evolution of our brains to that stage in thought process.
Kill money
The solution is the Venus Project: a resource-based enconomy not a monetary system. We can never and will never significantly advance inside the constraints of a monetary system. If we continue to perpetuate a monetary system then it truly will be the death of us all.
Oh and btw, September 11 was obviously done by the USA government, not some imaginary terrorists. And, this is good information, but it really isn’t anything new. I already knew it all. And they did not even mention the global oil ecnonomy in respect to the US dollar and its perceived value. This is the major issue. If the US dollar loses its spot as the world reserve currency, if the oil selling countries of the world stop selling oil in US dollars, then America as we know it will disappear.
I like how they continue saying “We can do it, but we have to act fast” implying we can save this, but they never mention how. Overall greatly informational and a good watch. Now onto the root causes… “For The Next Generation” is also on this site. Now THAT is a good one, albeit long =)
