The Zeitgeist Movement is not a political movement. It does not recognize nations, governments, races, religions, creeds or class. Our understandings conclude that these are false, outdated distinctions which are far from positive factors for true collective human growth and potential. Their basis is in power division and stratification, not unity and equality, which is our goal. While it is important to understand that everything in life is a natural progression, we must also acknowledge the reality that the human species has the ability to drastically slow and paralyze progress, through social structures which are out of date, dogmatic, and hence out of line with nature itself. The world you see today, full of war, corruption, elitism, pollution, poverty, epidemic disease, human rights abuses, inequality and crime is the result of this paralysis.
This movement is about awareness, in avocation of a fluid evolutionary progress, both personal, social, technological and spiritual. It recognizes that the human species is on a natural path for unification, derived from a communal acknowledgment of fundamental and near empirical understandings of how nature works and how we as humans fit into/are a part of this universal unfolding we call life. While this path does exist, it is unfortunately hindered and not recognized by the great majority of humans, who continue to perpetuate outdated and hence degenerative modes of conduct and association. It is this intellectual irrelevancy which the Zeitgeist Movement hopes to overcome through education and social action.
The goal is to revise our world society in accord with present day knowledge on all levels, not only creating awareness of social and technological possibilities many have been conditioned to think impossible or against “human nature”, but also to provide a means to overcome those elements in society which perpetuate these outdated systems. An important association, upon which many of the ideas of this movement are derived come from an organization called ” The Venus Project” directed by social engineer and industrial designer, Jacque Fresco. He has worked nearly his entire life to create the tools needed to assist a design of the world which could eventually eradicate war, poverty, crime, social stratification and corruption. His notions are not radical or complex. They do not impose a subjective interpretation in their formation. In this model, society is created as a mirror of nature, with the variables predefined, inherently. The movement itself is not a centralized construct. We are not here to lead, but to organize and educate. (Excerpt from thezeitgeistmovement.com)

I love The Zeitgeist Movement, I hope our mission will be successful one day! I am all for a resource based economy.
ZM, the awareness you bring and the illumination you expel is worth it; but be careful lest your movement be hijacked by other value systems that is not consistent with the core ideals you hold dear.
Thumbs up!
I love the idea of a resource based economy, however I am confused to how we will attain resources from the major corporate control structure to use for our benefit. Who will protect them, who will give directions and educate people how to use them?
at 09.37 he says: “Problems in our monetary based society will only have resolution if money can be made from solving those problems.” Isn’t that in apposition to what he argued before, that “Einstein and Isaac Newton did not make their massive contributions to society because of material self-interest”?
Isn’t that inconsistent?
He says that our problems will not solve themselves (using politics) in the capitalistic system, in fact they are self-sustained. All we ever discuss in politics is money. Today the whole premis of democracy and politics is kapitalism. They always discuss what we can afford and not what we want, despite the fact that no piece of paper ever directly created a product.
A great presentation!
RE: 9:37 – I think there are always people who selflessly offer knowledge as exceptions to this rule.
while one might argue that newton or einstein had done so, i’m sure no one would believe that edison or ford were not largely driven by the profit motive.
RE:9;37 I would concur that the message portrayed is one of that inside the capitalist system ideas revolutionary in nature likes of the light bulb motor car, are designed for a profit motive, rather than the free and easy implementation into society.
Isaac, Albert studied universal laws which had always existed their understandings of these laws came from a passion of knowledge, arguably a level of passion and opportunity only obtainable within a capitalist system at the time.
this is a copy of toltec wisdom… in truth, again, just another way of deceiving(trying to) the world!
(Rom 1:25) For they changed the truth of God into a lie, and they worshiped and served the created thing more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
Only an intellectual can believe such things; no ordinary man would be such a fool. There were many pathetic moments in this presentation but nothing was quite as representative of the presenter’s intellectual seriousness and level of merit as the statement “There is no such thing as a ‘criminal’.” It is rare to come across a statement so absurd that it can be refuted by doing nothing more than repeating it; this is one such occasion. There is no rational way to dispute the existence of a criminal. No logical method is available to someone who wishes to ignore all relevant science about the origins of criminal behavior in favor of a 19-page study that, among other things, claims that unemployment causes heart attacks.
What he means is clearly that nobody is BORN a criminal. People do criminal acts in order to fulfill their basic needs.
Oh, naturally. There is a basic need for sex, apparently, because there’s the crime of rape. There’s evidently a basic need for dead bodies because there’s the crime of murder. Obviously, there is a basic need for the Earth to be purged of certain people so there’s the crime of genocide. There must be a basic need for luxury because people steal things they desire (but don’t need). “Basic needs” covers such a minuscule segment of crime that it has no real value as an explanation for behavior. There is a strong link, established by numerous studies using evidence that doesn’t sound absurd, that a lack of a father causes a significant increase in the incidence of criminal behavior. How does a resource-based economy solve the problem that some men are irresponsible jerks or like to beat the crap out of their family or are killed or booted out of the child’s life by a divorce? Replacing the monetary system and committing resource management into the hands of computers and the scientific method won’t do a damn thing to fix at least one of the major instigators of crime.
Crime is a symptom of society. I do understand why you don’t believe that The Venus Project could prevent rape and murder, but before you come to that conclusion you should further investigate the motives of murderers and rapists and how they were raised. I’m sure that you will find some interesting commonalities between the people who commit these crimes, and that most of them is a symptom of subconcious reactions to hopelessness and dispair towards society. If we could just lower the amount of those crimes to a certain point, where the threat of experiencing such a crime is invisible, I’m sure that we would discover that a lot less people would grow up to commit those crimes, because our personality is shaped by our senses and the input they receive.
Do not watch more than an hour of TV a day, let yourself pick your mindshaping videogrammes. Radio and written media is better, it let you connect a lot of dots yourself so that you can shape your own opinion more freely… you can be you.
I realize that there is an impulse to think that humans are incapable of true and actual evil, that society or the correct application of scientific principles can repair a defect that, when repaired, will eliminate the monstrous things of which mankind is capable. This is the impulse of an optimist and any rational person who believes that reason can identify and solve any problem. But these impulses are for naught because they assume a condition that does not exist, and propose a reality that is at odds with all available evidence. Reducing crime by the application of scientific principles, rationality, logic, and the power of the human intellect is a beautiful dream… but it is only a dream. You cannot cure someone of the impulse to take what they desire but do not need any more than you can erase jealousy, covetousness, and greed. The rapist that victimizes small children or even the rapist that sates his lusts on the body of a sobbing victim cannot be repaired for the evil that drives them to this is beyond the comprehension of logic because evil has no reason. No application of science can excise the darkness from the soul of a human that murders for pleasure and no light of all-conquering rationality can ignite the flame of conscience in a mind that has gone dark. Society, recognizing that no human can redeem certain other humans that prey upon and torment the weak, cages them as they would a rabid animal and will occasionally strike the evil down. It is partly because some people are evil that the belief in an all-powerful all-knowing entity became necessary: even the most just and merciless wish to believe that once they kill the body, the soul can be made whole.
Gaffa, I conclude these things from a constant study of the written word and a very limited amount of exposure to entertaining television. The person who writes these words to you is very much who I am.
jealousy, covetousness and greed are way too low to effect someones behavior in a world where everything is free and equal. With either opinion at the end of the day theres only one of them that betters humanity instead of paralysing the effort for a better world.
I wanna travel the whole World constantly, we deserve it! Let’s get free, we need a Global workforce organization, to make a huge boicott to confront the modern slavemasters of capital.
